Cheers For Obama Bring More Tears For Hillary
Hillary Clinton couldn’t get out of South Carolina fast enough after a resounding political defeat at the hands of Barack Obama supporters who garnered 55% of the vote for the Illinois Senator compared to her 27% in Saturday’s Democratic Primary. She ignored the typical conciliatory speech which usually includes expressing gratitude for supporters in favor of heading off to Tennessee to generate a facade of success that will prove to be hollow by the time voters there place their vote amongst the multitude of other primaries slated to take place on “Supper Tuesday,” February 5th. She’ll have more to cry about when she finds her public has seen through her divisive campaign and rejected it’s viscous tactics.
Hillary shed tears after her surprise defeat in the Iowa Caucuses earlier this month. Pollsters believe that this public display of sensitivity and femininity attracted women voters to her cause from Obama’s going into the New Hampshire. Didn’t any of them stop to think it took a political defeat to bring her to tears? No such display of heartfelt loss was apparent with the death of dear friend Vince Forster who committed suicide while working at the White House during her husbands administration, with the slaughter of more than 3000 of her New York constituents in the 9/11 attacks, or with the devastating losses suffered by residents in the Gulf States from the Katrina disaster.
While displaying this softer side Hillary had no qualms allowing her attack dogs, primary among the pack being husband former President Bill Clinton, distorting or conjuring up facts or generating inuendo geared to the demise of Senator Barack Obama. He continued to try and frame Obama as the “Black” candidate hoping to alienate Whites and Hispanics reminding us that Jessie Jackson, justifiably tagged as a “Black” candidate, won South Carolina in 1984 and 1988. I don’t think he can point to any state where Jackson won the greatest share of White votes as did Obama in Iowa. Clinton failed to point out that he himself won South Carolina twice!
Senator Clinton claims experience as her advantage to qualifications for the office of President of The United States. The experience she claims includes her years as First Lady. To do so she must cast her lot with the reputation of the administration she was an integral part of led by husband Bill Clinton. Even those Democrats that supported his administration and back Hillary now will have a hard time forgetting the scandalous behavior he engaged in, not only as President but before as Governor of Arkansas and after as he tried to spin his failure to act against a growing terrorist threat. Who would want to risk the national embarrassment ever present with Bill Clinton.
Leading up to an appearance before The 911 Commission former National Security Adviser Sandy Burger stole and destroyed classified documents from the National Archives that included emails dealing with the Clinton Administration’s failure to take actions against suspected terrorist threats. Some of the documents were hidden under a construction trailer where anyone might have come across them with no regard by Berger just who that might be. Like most of the Clinton crew it’s all about the consequences to them rather than the nation. The fact he escaped incarceration for such a tyrannical act seemed humorous to former administration members.
So outraged were they by the ABC docudrama recounting their failure to take action against terrorists in Afghanistan during their watch that Bill Clinton and former administration members put on a full court press to have scenes depicting Berger’s indecision stricken from the footage. They succeeded in doing so and encouraged fellow liberals to place the blame for any failures on the Bush Administration. They also presided over the dismantling of the C.I.A. while terrorists staged a primitive attempt to destroy the World Trade Center in 1993 that warranted more attention than they thought to give, failed to respond to attacks against the U.S. Navy with the attack on the Cole, while inviting Yaser Arafat the White House generating false hopes for Middle East peace based on appeasement, leaving the hard work needed to be done to the Bush Administration.
This week we are barraged with a political ad featuring Hillary’s vision of a glorious energy policy paid for by removing the tax breaks given the gluttonous oil companies. They are banking on public ignorance hoping voters will forget that it was Bill’s Administration that approved the merger of Exxon and Mobile. They’re hoping you won’t realize how much the government is taking out of your pocket with every gallon of gas you buy.
Bill Clinton calls attention to the sacrifices Hillary has made as a public servant when she could have been a successful corporate lawyer. Well, that is precisely what she did for 17 years. While they make a former client and contributer to Obama’s campaign to be a slum lord in Chicago recall that several of Hillary’s clients and associates became convicted felons.
Hillary once sat on the board of Wal-Mart. She is currently the largest recipient of donations from large pharmaceutical firms, a title last held by George Bush. While Democrats call for change no one represents establishment interests more than Hillary Clinton. The only other alternative to Obama is the equally tretcherous John Edwards whose contrived populous platform cloaks a fortune extracted from doctors by convincing juries of the merits of junk science at the expense of the public health.
If you’re of the persuasion that Bill Clinton might have succeeded in painting Obama as the “Black” candidate in your mind, let yourself go and picture the black man in lowly janitors garb. Then be prepared to watch as he sweeps the white trash of the Democratic Party out of Washington because that’s about what he might well do. If other primaries were pushed back to their previous dates such as California’s, formerly held in June, his triumph would be all but certain as Democrats despair of the faith they have put in former hopefuls such as Clinton, Edwards, Kerry, Gore and the like have who subsequently let them down. None have been free of the personal and political baggage that warranted such hope. One would have to go back as far as Hubert Humphrey to find a Democratic presidential candidate who would be a selfless honest representative of the peoples interest that might be found with the nomination of Barack Obama as the Democratic candidate for President of the United States.
