Obama Dream Sunk By Reality
Barack Obama lured legions of young voters along with starry eyed liberals through 11 successive primary victories gaining a tide of momentum that seamed insurmountable in his bid to become the Democratic Party’s nominee for president. Supported by an endearing liberal media it is incredibly ironic that this hitherto untarnished vision of hope would be exposed by skits on the youth oriented NBC property of Saturday Night Live [ Obama Gets Media Nod ... ]. But, in addition to that, Hillary Clinton’s efforts to ground the dream in reality brought about the scrutiny that would leave his ascendence flat.
Despite the fact that video of the SNL skit was soon removed from YouTube the press has begun to do it’s job rather than simply swooning in Obama’s presence as the skit had portrayed them. Not only did they ask about details of his health care plan but also about his associations with an array of questionable characters. Included among them is his long term association with Tony Rezko, a major fund raiser for Obama who just went on trial for charges that include fraud, money laundering and attempted extortion. If that weren’t bad enough the London Times has reported the funds Rezko used to fund a real estate deal whereby Obama acquired his Chicago mansion in 2005 were supplied by Iraqi investor Nadhmi Auchi who was once a bag man for Sadham Hussain.
Obama’s association with Minister Louis Farrakhan, the black separatist leader of the Nation of Islam, was brought up in the recent debate by both Hillary Clinton and moderator Tim Russert. The pastor of the United Trinity Church of Christ, to which Barack and Michelle have long been members, has developed ties to Farrakhan who engaged in vicious verbal attacks against whites, gays and Jews. Though Obama has escaped attempts by Bill Clinton to frame Obama as the black candidate al la Jessie Jackson this long association with a church that describes itself as “…a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian… “, along with the ties to Farrakhan, does exactly that without Clinton’s help.
Exit polls in both Ohio and Texas showed that late deciders predominately went for Clinton. While Obama still garnered most of the youth vote, the exposure of Obama as just another politician will see this segment become disillusioned and their participation in the primaries taper off as the now important Pennsylvania primary date arrives. If Hillary can force do overs in Michigan and Florida this phenomena could give her the delegates she needs to garner the majority of un-committed delegates.
Should Obama still prevail and become the Democratic nominee, the scrutiny will increase leading into the general election in November exposing more Chicago Style politics and the close ties to the Soros liberal machinery that funded his Senatorial campaign back in 2004. Not only will the youth vote stay at home but moderates will be compelled to back McCain as they did for Ronald Reagan. The challenge for McCain at that point would be to get the Republican base to turn out in grater numbers than they have in the primaries. [ro_37]
